After reports of six fingertip amputations, four partial-fingertip amputations and one finger laceration, Graco Children’s Products has recalled about 4.7 million strollers<\/a> in the U.S., Canada and Mexico.<\/p>\n

According to the Consumer Product Safety Commission, the folding hinge that appears on the sides of the stroller “can pinch a child’s finger, posing a laceration or amputation hazard.”<\/p>\n

The 11 models affected are all single-occupant strollers that have an “external sliding fold-lock hinge on each side and a one-hand fold release mechanism on the handle.”<\/p>\n

The recall includes 11 Graco and Century-brand strollers that have a manufacture date from Aug. 1, 2000, to Sept. 25, 2014: Aspen, Breeze, Capri, Cirrus, Glider, Kite, LiteRider, Sierra, Solara, Sterling and TravelMate.<\/p>\n

The strollers were available at Target, Toys R Us, Walmart, Amazon.com and other retailers.<\/p>\n

Recall instructions from the CPSC read: “Contact Graco immediately for a free repair kit. Repair kits will be available from the firm at the beginning of December 2014.<\/p>\n

While waiting for a repair kit, caregivers should exercise extreme care when unfolding the stroller to be certain that the hinges are firmly locked before placing a child in the stroller. Caregivers are advised to immediately remove the child from a stroller that begins to fold to keep their fingers from the side hinge area.”<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
