Home Inspection | People who are selling their home need to be prepared to pass a home inspection for potential buyers. Most home buyers are going to ask you for a home inspection report and many will also make an offer contingent upon a home inspector. While the home buyer is typically the party you in responsible for hiring an inspector, there are a few things you can do ahead of time to ensure your home passes and the buyer is happy to come through on their offer.<\/p>\n

  1. Be Honest with the Inspector-<\/strong> If the inspector asks you to be upfront about the problems with the home, tell them what you know. The inspector that suspect the homeowner of being dishonest are more likely to dig deeper to find potential problems.<\/li>\n
  2. Fix the Roof Before Your Home Is on the Market-<\/strong> When an inspector notes roofing issues on a report, it is an automatic red flag to home buyers. Even if the issues are minor, it is always better to fix the roof before you put your home for sale.<\/li>\n
  3. Curb Appeal Goes a Long Way-<\/strong> The better your home looks visually, the more appealing the home. Inspectors look at landscaping, driveways, walkways, fences, and other exterior features. Take the time to ensure all gutters are draining water away so there is no mud or pooling, that your yard is raked, mowed, and well maintained, before an inspection appointment. Some people even plant some fragrant annuals in their walkways or around the front of their homes.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n
