Clean the House & Leave the Utilities On
\nA home inspector will have a much easier time assessing the different components of a
\nhome when it is clean and free of clutter. By cleaning and removing clutter, a home
\ninspector will be able to access areas such as closets, attics and basements much
\neasier. Also, even if you are not currently living in the home the utilities should be left
\non. To check the appliances, furnace and air conditioning, power will need to be on and
\nfunctional.<\/p>\n
Leave Keys for Detached Buildings and Other Locked Areas
\nTo complete a thorough home inspection, the inspector will need to access all areas of
\nthe property. If you have a barn or detached garage that is locked, the inspector will
\nneed keys to access these areas as well. If you do not plan on being present for the
\nhome inspection, you can just leave the keys with a note for the inspector as to what

Leave Any Repair Documents for Review
\nIf you have recently had upgrades or repairs to any part of your home or property, it is
\nbest to leave a copy of those documents for the home inspector. These documents will
\ngive the home inspector a better understanding upfront to what areas have been
