For example, you need surgery. Have you named a healthcare surrogate to make medical decisions when, or if, you can\u2019t? Do you have a will or durable power of attorney in place? An elder law attorney who does estate planning can assist with those immediate needs and advise on what you might want to consider for down the road. Clarify your needs, then search for elder law attorneys whose firms work in those areas, and ones that might overlap. Visit their websites to see how long they have been working in these areas. This will give you an idea of their experience level. Read the reviews; sometimes you might read about a case similar to yours and learn about the process, or how quickly the issue was resolved.
