When selecting a new plunger don\u2019t just pick the first one you come to. Consider how and where it will be used and decide from there.<\/p>\n<p>1. Sink\/Standard Plunger<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><a href=\"http:\/\/www.redcapplumbing.com\/tampa_plumber\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/02\/sink-plunger.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-498\" alt=\"plumbing, plumbing emergency, 24 hour plumber, plumbing repair\" src=\"http:\/\/www.redcapplumbing.com\/tampa_plumber\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/02\/sink-plunger.jpg\" width=\"300\" height=\"200\" \/><\/a><br \/>\nThis very basic plunger is what most people think of when talking about plungers. A standard plunger has a rubber cup at the end of a straight handle usually made of wood. Sometimes the handle or the cup is a different size, but the basic structure stays the same. This is considered a sink plunger because it really only works well on a flat surface, like a sink, where the cup can lay flat over the drain and create the vacuum necessary to properly plunge and dislodge the sink clog. In a pinch this plunger can potentially be used to clear clogs in other fixtures but it will be a challenge to position the cup in a way that creates enough suction.<\/p>\n<p>2. Toilet Plunger<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><a href=\"http:\/\/www.redcapplumbing.com\/tampa_plumber\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/02\/Toilet_Plunger-e1397844493665-1024x348.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter  wp-image-499\" alt=\"plumbing, plumbing emergency, 24 hour plumber, plumbing repair\" src=\"http:\/\/www.redcapplumbing.com\/tampa_plumber\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/02\/Toilet_Plunger-e1397844493665-1024x348.jpg\" width=\"614\" height=\"209\" \/><\/a><br \/>\nThe toilet plunger has a cup like that of the sink plunger but it also has a soft rubber flap that fold out from inside the cup. The fold out flap fits quite well over the toilet drain making it easy to form the necessary suction to clear a toilet clog. With the flap folded inside the cup this plunger can also be used on a sink or tub drain to create a seal. A toilet plunger is perhaps the best option for all around home use because the fold out flat provides flexibility to allow it to fit just about any drain.<\/p>\n<p>3. Accordion Plunger<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><a href=\"http:\/\/www.redcapplumbing.com\/tampa_plumber\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/02\/accordian-plunger.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-497\" alt=\"plumbing, plumbing emergency, 24 hour plumber, plumbing repair\" src=\"http:\/\/www.redcapplumbing.com\/tampa_plumber\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/02\/accordian-plunger.jpg\" width=\"500\" height=\"228\" \/><\/a><br \/>\nThis interesting looking plunger has a design better suited for clearing toilet clogs because it has a smaller cup. The size of the suction cup is not really suited for other drains besides that of a toilet. It can produce quite a bit of force but it is not very easy to use. The plastic that it is made of is quite hard, so creating a vacuum seal over the drain is a challenge. This is a powerful but not very versatile plunger. More \u00bb<\/p>\n<p>4. Taze Plunger<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><a href=\"http:\/\/www.redcapplumbing.com\/tampa_plumber\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/02\/675209.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter  wp-image-496\" alt=\"plumbing, plumbing emergency, 24 hour plumber, plumbing repair\" src=\"http:\/\/www.redcapplumbing.com\/tampa_plumber\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/02\/675209.jpg\" width=\"300\" height=\"300\" \/><\/a><br \/>\nThis type of plunger is used for clearing large pipes and not for the typical household drain clog. A taze plunger consists of a disc to fit a particular pipe size and a long steel rod, which pushes the disc into the pipe.
