This week is Random Acts of Kindness week. We want you to pay it forward with ten energy efficient and heartwarming ways to show your friends and loved ones courtesy through these often overlooked and extremely effective random acts of kindness.

  1. Wash the dishes. If you’ve been walking past a sink full of dirty dishes all week, take a few moments, get your hands dirty and help out with the household chores.
  2. Replace the toilet paper roll. Be proactive and help make your family member’s trip to the restroom carefree.
  3. Purchase a decent plunger. Although your local Red Cap plumber is always just a phone call away, some situations just won’t wait. Swoop in and save the day by adding to your bathroom emergency kit.
  4. Use a reusable water bottle. Using a reusable water bottle is an easy way to reduce waste in a landfill and help protect the environment.
  5. Stop by an elderly loved one’s house to clean up their kitchen. A quick sprucing up speaks volumes and helps to make their day a tad bit easier!
  6. Place uplifting post-it notes in random places (e.g., bathroom mirror, bathroom stall, microwave, kitchen cabinet).
  7. Give a reusable water bottle full of water to a homeless person.
  8. Give a gift certificate or coupon to a friend or family member.
  9. When you receive good service, tell the person’s manager or boss. Take it a step further by leaving a positive comment on the company’s website or other sites. Remember to mention the person by name.
  10. Spread the word.  If you know someone who takes pictures, paints interiors, is a super nanny, a wonderful accountant, or a great plumber 🙂 Let others know. People who work for themselves need word of mouth referrals more than anyone else.
