Don’t Blame Dad, Quite Yet!
24 Hour Plumber | Dealing with a toilet that’s overflowing certainly isn’t a fun task, and it can definitely cause you a lot of hassle–especially if you’re dealing with a repetitive, nearly chronic problem.
Calling a 24 hour plumber will solve the immediate problem, but knowing what the problem is can also help you get on with your life without worrying about your plumbing. Here are some frequent causes of an overflowing toilet.
Poorly Installed Pipes
If you’ve recently moved into your home or had work done on your plumbing, then it’s possible that the pipes which carry waste away from your home were poorly installed.
These pipes carry away waste with the power of gravity, which means that if they aren’t tilted enough, gravity won’t be able to work. This results in water simply sitting in those pipes, and flushing your toilet may cause an overflow to occur.
Flushing Large Items
There are many items which aren’t meant to be flushed down a toilet, so it may be that something recently flushed got caught in the pipes and is causing a blockage.
Flushing your toilet adds roughly two gallons to the bowl, and if the water can’t go down, it’s going to come back up.
You can help avoid this situation by making sure you clear any regular clogging that occurs, and by making sure you don’t flush items which aren’t supposed to go down the toilet.
Nearby Tree Roots
You’ve probably seen tree roots mess up sidewalks and roads before, so you know the damage that they can do.
Although it’s harder to see how they mess things up underground, it’s quite possible for roots to cause all sorts of issues with your pipes. Some roots will move pipes, causing them to drain improperly. Other times, roots will even grow into the pipe and cause a blockage.
Whatever is causing your problem, we at Red Cap Plumbing always have a 24 hour plumber on hand.
