  1. Choose the Right Trailer- You can tow your motorcycle using any vehicle, but you’ll need to hook up a trailer to transport the bike on. The trailer needs to not only suit your towing needs for a motorcycle but also the specifications of your vehicle. If you are hauling your motorcycle frequently, you’ll need to put a lot of thought into the right kind to purchase. Most people just rent a motorcycle trailer when they need one. 
  2. Working Load Limit on Ratchet Straps- You can purchase ratchet straps from any home store, but our tow company in Duluth recommends paying attention to the working load limit on the straps. You should always have a working load limit that is equal to at least half what the motorcycle weighs. You should also attach the straps as high as possible on your motorcycle and as low as possible on the trailer and use the x pattern for optimal staying power. Make sure the bike is vertical while you are strapping it onto the trailer as well and not leaning on the kickstand. 
  3. Front Wheel Chock- To prevent your motorcycle from moving while you are hauling it, you’ll need a front wheel chock. Wheel chocks can be metal or plastic and go around the front wheel to keep it from moving around in the bed of the trailer. 
  4. Practice Driving with a Trailer- If you have never driven a vehicle that is hauling a trailer you need to practice driving with the trailer attached.
